Anna believes that training spaces are places where real magic and transformation can happen. Experiencing it herself while on Training for Change’s 'SuperT', a 19 day training for trainers in Philadelphia, USA. Her job is to make sure all our trainings contain that magic! She came to Campaign Bootcamp after 6 years in the international climate movement training and supporting activist groups around the world. When not working with a group she is happiest walking in the hills around Sheffield where she lives, out on her bike, or with her head in a book. .
JESS THOMAS, HEAD OF OPERATIONS & PROGRAMMES
Jess is a project manager and consultant by trade with a background in mainly feminist campaigning. Before joining Bootcamp, Jess was Head of Operations at openDemocracy and before that worked as a consultant on both community and organisational projects, including coordinating the EQUALS coalition of UK NGOs focussing on gender equality. Jess grew up in Sheffield and likes to talk about this a lot, as well as bikes, climbing and spreadsheets.
Johnny Chatterton, Co-Founder and Executive Director
Johnny is the co-founder and Executive Director of Bootcamp. Johnny was a founding campaigner at 38 Degrees where he ran the Save our Forests campaign and the campaign to protect the NHS. After that he moved to Change.org to work with campaigns teams in 18 countries as Director of Campaign Innovation, and was Senior Campaigns Advisor at SumofUs.org until October 2014.
Nim Ralph, Core Trainer
Nim is a community activist and freelance writer, trainer & facilitator and equality and diversity specialist. Nim has held a number of strategic roles in the anti-racist, LGBTQI, women's and disability sectors. They co-founded QTIPOC London and are an inaugural member of the Edge Fund. Previous to this they co-founded and Directed So We Stand. This won Nim an Olive Morris Memorial Award for activism and was named a Guardian "Youth Climate Leader". Nim grew up and lives in Walthamstow, is passionate about film, plays the drums, loves avocados and has a penchant for cheesy 90s music.
Tamara-Jade Kaz, Community & Training Coordinator
Tamara-Jade takes an intersectional approach to her outreach work to ensure that those most in need of Campaign Bootcamp's training and community, can access it. She also supports with training on camp and coordinates mentoring. Outside of work, Tamara-Jade campaigns primarily on domestic violence. She also likes to draw and paint her nails.
TARA MACK, UK PROGRAMMES MANAGER
Tara Mack is the former Director of the Education for Liberation Network, a national education justice network in the US. She helped start the organisation, developing it from an informal listserv of a few hundred people to a national network that connected more than 2,000 through convenings, publications, social media and resource exchanges. Before becoming director, she organised arts and media projects for low-income teens in New York and London. Prior to that she worked for five years as a professional journalist in Washington, DC and London. Tara lives in Hackney with her partner and two children.
SUE BALCOMB, TRAINER
Sue was the England Director for Oxfam’s UK Poverty Programme for 8 years and comes to Bootcamp with over 30 years’ experience of running and delivering projects in both the statutory and voluntary sector in the UK and Latin America. A passionate campaigner, Sue uses community development principles and practice to challenge injustice and be part of creating change with marginalised communities. Outside of paid work she is involved in promoting women’s and refugee rights and with the local People’s Assembly. When not immersed in activism she has her hands in the earth - growing food on her allotments in Bradford, and delivering forest experiences for adults with anxiety and depression.
Yvonne Raptis, Finance Manager.
Yvonne has many years of financial management experience in the not-for-profit sector, both in the UK and the USA where she worked at the Art Institute of Chicago, Orchestra of St. Luke’s New York and the Royal Oak Foundation (American friends of the National Trust). She holds a Master’s Degree from the Scottish Conservatoire and in her other life is a classically-trained singer.
BRYONY NICHOLSON, OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
Bryony hails from the North-East and worked in operations for youth charities before joining Campaign Bootcamp in spring 2016. She describes her role as getting everyone to the right place at the right time with the right stuff doing the right thing. She enjoys cycling, cooking, eating and doing stuff around London that she couldn't do up north.
